Sliding windows have sashes that move horizontally on a track. Usually only
one of the sashes moves and the other is fixed. Since only half of the window
area can be opened, sliding windows provide less ventilation area than casement
or rotating windows. An advantage is they are inexpensive, especially if the
frame is aluminum, and easy to clean if the moveable sash is removed.
